Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

The birth of DuVernay's daughter took place on the 24th day of August on the 24th of August, 1972 in Long Beach California. DuVernay received support from her Aunt Denise as just a young girl. DuVernay worked as a night nurse to allow her mother the space she required during the day for the love of art, literature, as well as theatre. DuVernay was a college student at the time she began to become interested in production for broadcast journalism. She began her career as an intern for CBS News, during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay recalls being asked to check the trash at the home of one of jury. The work she was assigned to did not leave her satisfied with journalism so she decided to shift her focus towards the field of publicity. DuVernay began her first position as a publicist at a small production studio right after she graduated from school. Her first venture was The DuVernay Agency, her PR firm, in 1999. In addition, she launched several lifestyle and promotional networks, including Urban Beauty Collective. Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful, and Urban Thought Collective.
